About Ross F. Collins

Ross F. Collins is a professor of communication at North Dakota State University, Fargo, USA. He began his career as a photojournalist, and spent three years as a free-lance photographer and writer. In 1992 he graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (Britain), specializing in French journalism history. Ross teaches a variety of communication courses at NDSU, including photography and publication design. He coordinated the university's internet web design program from 2002-2017, and from 1994-2015 served as senior editor for the North Dakota State University Press. He co-edited a photography textbook, Photocommunication Across Media, published in 2018 by Routledge.

Ross's photographs have appeared in a variety of solo and group shows and publications regionally and nationally, including Best of Photography Annual, Minnesota Monthly, Artsquad Contemporary Fine Art, Poudre Valley Art League, New York Times, Fargo-Moorhead Forum, and most recently, “Seeing in Black and White,” Spirit Room, Fargo. He is currently an associate member of Gallery 4 Artists’ Collective, Fargo.
